Colletti was approached to feature on MTV’s planned reality television series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which portrayed the lives of privileged teenagers, in 2004. The show first aired in September of 2004. Colletti and the rest of the actors from the first season returned for a second season. His performance in the series was described by the New York Times in 2006 as “still striving to gain enough charisma to animate his hero features.” Colletti did not return for the third season of the show. He attended San Francisco State University for a year after graduating from high school before returning to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. Colletti made an appearance as himself in an episode of another MTV reality show, The Hills, in 2007. Colletti worked as a VJ for MTV’s Total Request Live for a short time.

Colletti was cast in a big recurring role for the fourth season of The CW’s teen drama series One Tree Hill in January 2007. Colletti played Chase Adams, a high school student who intends to save money till he marries. Colletti remained a key recurrent character in the subsequent seasons.
