With co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist, host Joe Scarborough provides enterprise reporting as well as discussion on the day’s news. Scarborough was one of the rotating hosts auditioning for the spot vacated by Imus in the Morning on MSNBC in May 2007.
The American Conservative Union gave him a lifetime rating of 95 percent during his congressional service. Scarborough served on many committees, including the Armed Services Committee, the Judiciary Committee, the Government Reform Committee, and the Education Committee. House Speaker Newt Gingrich named Scarborough to lead a Republican task team on education. Scarborough had a variety of anti-abortion statements throughout his time in Congress. During his service in the House of Representatives, Joe Scarborough voted against raising the minimum wage to $5.15 and making the Corporation for Public Broadcasting self-sufficient by eliminating government assistance. He campaigned for the closure of the School of the Americas and supported Lori Berenson, a suspected terrorist. Scarborough was one of 228 House members who voted to impeach Bill Clinton in December 1998.
Scarborough and Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski started a two-hour late-morning radio show on WABC (770 AM) in New York City on December 8, 2008, replacing 12-year veteran broadcaster John Gambling. The radio show was put on “hiatus” on April 26, 2010, in order for Scarborough to rebuild the concept into a new three-hour broadcast. On June 23, 2017, Scarborough released his debut EP, Mystified. On the same day, a music video for the title track of the new wave-inspired EP was released. For the next four years, Scarborough planned to release a new EP every month.
