Jon Jansen is a former National Football League offensive tackle. He formerly played for the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions of the National Football League. On January 4, 2009, he interviewed Eagles running back Brian Westbrook for NFL Network’s coverage of the playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Minnesota Vikings. On Lions game days, Jansen can be heard on 97.1 The Ticket WXYT-FM doing post-game broadcasts for the Detroit Lions. Jon has been hired by the Big Ten Network for a variety of positions. He has started every game in his professional career (50, including two playoff games). Jansen was awarded the ‘Unsung Hero’ of the Redskins in 2002 by his teammates. Jansen tore his left Achilles tendon in the Redskins’ preseason opener on August 9, 2004.

He had started 82 straight games as a pro after starting 50 straight games in college at Michigan (including two playoff games). Jansen prolonged his duel with Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan by limiting him to two tackles and no sacks. Jansen returned from an Achilles injury in 2004 to start all 16 games, including two playoff games, 2005. With 1,516 yards rushing in a single season, he helped running back Clinton Portis break a franchise record. On February 7, 2007, Jansen was given a new contract at the conclusion of the 2006 season. In the season opener against Miami in 2007, Jansen fractured and dislocated his ankle, ruining his season.
