Morgan Chesky Biography

Morgan Chesky is an American Emmy Award journalist serving as an anchor and a reporter for correspondent news in NBC News Dallas Texas. He previously served as a news anchor at KOMO 4 news for two years, ABC affiliate station as weekday evening news anchor.  He has been working with the NBC team since December 2018.

Chesky joined NBC News as a national correspondent in December 2018. He previously worked with the KOMO News team in 2016 after covering stories in his home state of Texas that received national attention. His most recent assignment at KOMO has been to co-anchor the weekend evening newscasts with Michelle Esteban, as well as to break down the latest news in his weekday reports. Before moving to Washington, Chesky covered Oklahoma’s blizzards, tornadoes, and even earthquakes. On May 20, 2013, he arrived in Moore, Oklahoma, just minutes after an EF-5 tornado ripped through the town. He helped reunite parents with children trapped inside an elementary school as one of the first reporters to report live from the storm’s devastation. Chesky’s interviews with families were broadcast across the country, putting faces to the thousands of people who had been affected.

His most recent assignment at KOMO is to co-anchor the weekend evening newscasts with Michelle Esteban, as well as to break down the latest news in his weekday reports. In 2009, while anchoring and reporting in Texas, he visited Fort Hood and witnessed the tragic aftermath of the mass shooting there. Morgan’s stories provided a glimpse into the lives of the resilient, yet heartbroken soldiers of the close-knit military community in the days that followed.

Just weeks after starting at KOMO, he had one of his most memorable career moments. He got a seat on an Alaska Airlines flight that was rerouted to coincide with a solar eclipse over the Pacific Ocean. Morgan shared the first images of a total eclipse captured at 37,000 feet that night from Honolulu. He’s interested in hearing about any other stories that lead to beautiful beaches and Mai Tais. He worked as reporter for KVUE News in Austin and KLTV in Tyler, Texas, where he covered stories such as the Fort Hood mass shooting.
