Willis began his real estate executive career in the middle of the 1980s as a branch manager for Coldwell Banker. He owned Carriage House Realty before going into the business full time in 1991. Willis oversaw a team at the company’s Southwest Market Center in Austin, where he doubled the office’s output over a period of five years. The market center became the top real estate office within the company during his time there. After being appointed regional director for Central and South Texas, Willis had the chance to expand the region’s presence in San Antonio and Houston. During his time in charge of that region, he built a 1,900 agent company and became eligible for membership in the REAL Trends Billionaire’s Club. He was given the position of President of Keller Williams International in 2002.
In 2005, Willis assumed control of the CEO post. Under his direction, Keller Williams has grown to be the largest real estate franchise in North America, with more than 100,000 agents working there as of 2014.
