Darian Javaheri kicked off his broadcasting journey back in 2002 while he was a student at Arizona State University. He took on the role of a weather anchor and played a key part in launching the university’s very first dedicated weather department at NewsWatch TV, which was an in-school news program that aired throughout Arizona.
Just before he graduated, he landed his first professional gig as a meteorologist at KCSG in Utah. He quickly climbed the ranks to become the chief meteorologist, where he managed the station’s weather operations and forecasting.
In 2008, Javaheri made his way to a duopoly station on California’s Central Coast, taking on the roles of environmental reporter and meteorologist across KCOY, KKFX, KION, and KCBA. In this position, he connected with over 500,000 households through television.
While in California, he reported on several significant events, including the 2008 Basin Complex Fire in Big Sur, which was one of the largest wildfires in U.S. history at that time. In 2009, he also had the opportunity to cover the Michael Jackson memorial service at the Staples Center, gaining access through a lottery system, making him one of the few local reporters to be there in person.
