He was also one of the first to record and cover one of the world’s most powerful earthquakes and disastrous tsunamis: a 9.1 magnitude quake off the coast of Japan that killed thousands.
Javaheri worked as a meteorologist and environmental correspondent in central California before joining CNN International in June 2010. He was nominated for a regional Emmy for exceptional work as a weather anchor while he was there. Prior to that, Javaheri was the chief meteorologist for a local station in Utah, where he was in charge of all-weather operations.
