MattyBRaps, also known as MattyB, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, and dancer. He has not only covered well-known artists’ songs such as Willow Smith, Ke$ha, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber, but he has also released a number of original songs accompanied by professional quality music videos. He collaborated with James Maslow on his original song Never Too Young, and with Maddi Jane on Love Somebody. He has appeared on a number of television shows, including The Wendy Williams Show. As an actor, he has appeared in MattyB’s World and numerous short films, including MattyBraps’ Moment and Live for Today. In 2013, Billboard ranked him 19th on their 21 Under 21 list.
MattyB first heard hip hop music when he was five years old and was immediately inspired to learn dance moves to match the beats. MattyB became interested in the type of music Mars made and began rapping to his lyrics after his older cousin, Mars, a rapper known by the alias MarsRaps, moved in to live with his family. In the years since he has persistently asked his cousin to assist him with his own rap.
MattyB began releasing songs with lyrics written by himself. He released his first such song, a cover of I Believe in You, on June 22, 2010.
