Kristy’s journey in broadcasting kicked off in 1994 when she took on the role of weekend anchor and reporter for an ABC affiliate in sunny Palm Springs, California. Just a year later, she made a move to Spokane, Washington, where she continued her work as a weekend anchor and reporter for the CBS affiliate.

By 1997, she had set her sights on Boston, joining WHDH and eventually stepping into the role of weekday morning and noon anchor. Born as Yun Kyong Kim in Taegu, South Korea, she embraced her new identity when she became a U.S. citizen at the age of 12. “Why Kristy? Who knows! I was just a kid, but it turned out to be a great fit for TV,” she laughs. Kristy holds both an undergraduate and a graduate degree in journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Now, she enjoys life in the suburbs with her husband, a Boston native, and their two daughters.

Before joining NECN in 2005, Lee was the weekend evening news anchor and health reporter for NBC10 Boston. Her career began in 1994 at the ABC affiliate in Palm Springs, California, and after a year, she transitioned to the CBS affiliate in Spokane. In 1997, she made her way to Boston to work at WHDH, where she eventually became the weekday morning and noon anchor. After four and a half years, she took on the lead anchor position at the CBS affiliate in Seattle. “I’ve made a lot of moves in my career, and as you can see, Boston feels like home again,” she reflects.
