Geoff Bennett is a well-known American broadcast journalist who co-anchors the PBS NewsHour alongside Amna Nawaz. Over the years, he has worn many hats in the media world, working as an editor, reporter, and anchor across various platforms, including radio, television, and digital media.
Bennett graduated with honors from Morehouse College in 2002, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. During his senior year, he landed an internship at ABC News, where he had the privilege of being mentored by the seasoned journalist Carole Simpson, who was then the weekend anchor for ABC World News Tonight.
That internship was a springboard for his journalism career, leading him to a role as an off-air production assistant for World News Tonight at ABC News in New York. He quickly climbed the ranks to become an associate producer.
In 2007, Bennett made his way to NPR in Los Angeles, taking on the role of digital producer and editor for News & Notes, while also making regular appearances on air. Just two years later, he relocated to Washington, D.C., to work as an editor for Weekend Edition.
