Kalil is an American journalist currently serving as a sports anchor in CBS46 News. He joined the news team in March 2015. Kalil comes to CBS46 from WXIA where he’s been for the last 22 years. While there he received 12 Southeastern Regional Emmy Awards and six of them were for Best Sportscaster. He also was awarded seven Gabby Awards and two Associated Press (AP) Sportscaster of the Year awards.

On Tuesday, October 10, 2017, Fred was introduced into the Atlanta Press Club Hall of Fame at the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. Rich McKay, president, and CEO of the Atlanta Falcons presented him. Fred began his TV sports detailing career in high school, reporting on basketball games for WNDU radio in South Bend, Indiana. During his school years, Fred facilitated a weekly Indian University football appearance on WTIU-TV and later filled in as an investigator and secured the end of the week sports on an Indiana University series from WTTV-TV in Indianapolis.

Fred moved to WISH-TV in Indianapolis, where his work as a games supporter drew the attention of news executives from all over the country. In 1992, he moved on to become a games chief at WXIZ TV 11Alie News in Atlanta. Since then, he has seen and revealed every major game for the area.
