He began working at the Central Intelligence Agency Counterterrorism Center after graduating. Sexton spent a year there before being transferred to the Iraq office. She was transferred to the Afghanistan office in 2009. He later joined the New York Police Department Intelligence Division after four years with the CIA. He also became the national security editor of TheBlaze in the summer of 2011.
