Alex Coleman is an Emmy Award-winning American journalist who co-anchors at Live At 9, news, interview, and entertainment show. At WREG-TV, he co-anchors the top-rated 4 and 4:30 newscasts (CBS). Alex just received Emmy nominations for the WREG specials “Memphis: On a Mission-Breaking the Cycle” and “Memphis: On a Mission-Team Read.” He’s been with WREG for more than two decades. For the college’s TV station, he filled in as news chief, stay, and columnist. In Alabama, he worked as a correspondent and wrestler on radio and television.

He’s served on the Memphis Music Foundation, Latino Memphis, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the Fogelman YMCA, the Blues Foundation, and the Boys & Girls Club’s boards of directors. Alex has hosted events such as the NAACP Freedom Fund Gala, the Latino Memphis Gala, the Memphis Latino Leadership Awards, the Zion Community Project event, the Blues Music Awards Show, and the Buddy Guy and Bobby Rush-led Blues 4 Prostate Cancer Education show. Alex enjoys music, particularly Memphis music, as well as movies. He also likes to read, run, travel, and watch the Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis Tiger Basketball and Football, and Alabama Crimson Tide Football. “I like many things about Memphis, including the people, the city’s expanding diversity, and the city’s strong musical legacy,” Alex says of his hometown. Of course, I can’t ignore my fascination with Memphis politics. Nothing else in this town compares to the politics. There is never a dull moment in the news, which is always thrilling.
