Scillian began his television career at WIBW-TV in Topeka, Kansas, while still a student at the University of Kansas. Scillian worked for WAND-TV in Decatur, Illinois, from 1985 to 1986 after graduating from Kansas’ William Allen White School of Journalism. Before arriving at KFOR in Oklahoma City in 1989, he spent three years as the principal anchor at KLTV in Tyler, Texas. In 1995, he began his career at WDIV as a reporter, and in 1996, he was promoted to anchor. Scillian has appeared in multiple films as a broadcast journalist, including Scream 4, The Double, and Mooz-lum, as well as a recurrent position as a news presenter on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in a “Breaking News” comedy.
He has been recognized for his achievements both at home and abroad. His tasks have brought him all over the world, from Beijing’s Forbidden City to the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Square, from the Red Sea to Moscow, and from Jerusalem to Siberia. Thanks to his well-used passport, he’s attended six Olympiads. Three times he has earned the Edward R. Murrow Award, one of the highest honors in broadcast journalism. His career path took him to WAND in Decatur, Illinois, KLTV in Tyler, Texas, and KFOR in Oklahoma City, where he won a Peabody Award for his 24-hour coverage of the Murrah Federal Building explosion in 1995. Flashpoint, which he established, immediately became a must-see for anybody interested in politics.
