Dan Dierdorf is a former football offensive lineman in the United States who now works as a sportscaster. He is a partner in the KTRS radio station in St. Louis. Dierdorf has worked as a broadcaster since his playing career ended. From 1987 until 1999, he worked for the American Broadcasting Company (ABC), including 12 years as a color analyst on Monday Night Football.

In 1968, when the Wolverines won the Big Ten Conference and were ranked No. 9 in the final Associated Press poll, Dierdorf started nine of Michigan’s ten games at right offensive tackle. As a sophomore, he was an important blocker for Ron Johnson, who set an NCAA record with 347 rushing yards and a Big Ten record with five rushing touchdowns. Standing six feet four inches tall and weighing 255 pounds, he was the team’s strong tackle. He was chosen to the first-team All-Big Ten Conference football team by both the Associated Press (AP) and United Press International in 1969. Dierdorf was named to the first team by a unanimous vote.
Dierdorf was drafted in the second round of the 1971 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. He played in 12 games as a rookie in 1971, six of them as a starter. During a three-year run from 1974 to 1976, he started every game as the right tackle for the Cardinals. For three years in the mid-1970s, the Cardinals’ offensive line topped the NFL in sacks allowed. From 1974 to 1978, Dierdorf was picked to play in the Pro Bowl five times in a row.
Three years in a row (1976–78), he was named the NFC’s choice for the NFLPA/Coca-Cola Offensive Lineman of the Year Award. In 1979, he tore ligaments in his left knee and was forced to sit out the rest of the season. He was named to the NEA’s first-team All-NFL team in 1980. He announced his retirement at the end of the 1983 season after the Cardinals started the season with a 1–5 record.
