Joshua Johnson Biography
Joshua Johnson is an American journalist and the former host of WAMU’s 1A, which is broadcast nationwide by NPR. He joined MSNBC’s The Week with Joshua Johnson in 2019 and now hosts the show. Prior to joining WAMU, Joshua co-created and aired Truth Be Told, a groundbreaking national public radio series that examined racism in America.

He began his career in public radio by assisting in the creation of WLRN, Miami’s NPR station, and The Miami Herald’s regional news collaboration. He then spent more than five years as the morning news anchor for KQED in San Francisco.
Prior to joining WAMU, he co-created and aired Truth Be Told, a daring national public radio series that examined racism in America. Joshua has also lectured on podcasting at the University of California, Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism. He is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, in which he is quite active. 1A was launched at a time when the news was chaotic, and it was inspired by the first amendment. It provides new insight and inquiry into the most critical topics of our time.
