Hala Gorani is an American journalist residing in London who works as an anchor and correspondent for CNN International. She is the host of CNN’s Hala Gorani Tonight, which airs weeknights at 8 p.m. CET. From CNN’s Atlanta headquarters, Gorani co-hosted Your World Today with Jim Clancy until February 2009, and then International Desk until April 2014.

Gorani has reported from every country in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, and the Palestinian territories, and is one of CNN’s most experienced international correspondents. She had a key role in CNN International’s coverage of the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah conflict, for which the network received an Edward R. Murrow Award. Gorani was also honored with a News and Documentary Emmy for CNN’s coverage of Egypt’s 2011 revolution, which resulted in the ouster of the country’s then-president, Hosni Mubarak. In early 2009, she hosted The Middle East Challenge, an hour-long special that offered an in-depth and thought-provoking look at the Middle East’s issues and opportunities.

Gorani moderated the final session of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in 2008, which featured Tony Blair, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Elie Wiesel, and JP Morgan Chase & Co. Chairman and CEO James Dimon, among others. Hala joined CNN in 1998 after working as an anchor at Bloomberg Television in London. She also covered topics for the French cable network Paris Premiere for the French network France 3. Gorani began her media career as a reporter for the French daily La Voix du Nord and the news agency Agence France Presse.
