Amanda Setton Biography

Amanda Setton is an American actress. She is most known for her recurring roles as Penelope Shafai on The CW’s adolescent drama Gossip Girl (2008–2012), Kimberly Andrews on ABC’s One Life to Live (2009–2011), and Brook Lynn Quartermaine on ABC’s General Hospital. In late 2011, she made her Off-Broadway debut in the comedy play Love, Loss, and What I Wore, and she appeared in the first half of season one of Fox’s comedy The Mindy Project.

From 2008 to 2012, Setton portrayed Penelope Shafai in the adolescent drama Gossip Girl. On August 14, 2009, she made her debut as Kimberly Andrews on the ABC serial series One Life to Live. Setton also appeared in the 2008 films Sex and the City and What Happens in Vegas in minor roles. On February 21, 2010, the website Daytime Confidential stated that Setton had taped her final episode as Kim on One Life to Live despite being given a contract and a pay raise.

In 2010, Setton returned to Gossip Girl. On June 22, 2011, it was reported that Setton would return to One Life to Live as Kimberly Andrews in August 2011. Setton was cast as Shauna Dicanio, a series regular on the Fox comedy series The Mindy Project, on July 11, 2012. However, on November 20, 2012, it was rumored that her character would be written out of the program. Setton appeared as a guest in the pilot episode of the CBS criminal drama series Golden Boy, which debuted on February 26, 2013, the same day Setton was cast in the CBS sitcom The Crazy Ones. During the fifth season of Hawaii Five-0, she played Dr. Mindy Shaw.

Amanda Setton was cast in the role of Brook Lynn Ashton on General Hospital in 2019. Frank Valentini, the GH Executive Producer who was also her employer on One Life to Live, hired her. Valentini approached Setton and gave her the part without requiring an audition. Daytime Confidential’s Jamey Giddens suggested that Setton be hired in the role in 2012, a year after Brook Lynn’s initial portrayer Adrianne Leon was fired from the show. Setton took maternity leave from the role in 2020, and her final appearance was on August 4, 2020. On March 15, 2021, she will return to the post.
