Roy began her journalism career as a reporter and photographer at KLKN-TV in Lincoln, Nebraska, from August 1998 to January 2000, and afterwards worked as a reporter for KHQ-TV in Spokane, Washington, from February 2000 to April 2002. The news anchor has received eight Emmy nominations for her work in news reporting. Among the nominations are ‘Best Hard News Reporter’ in 2004 and 2005, ‘Best Feature Story’ in 2007, ‘Best General Assignment Reporter’ in 2008, and ‘Best News Anchor’ in 2009. From July 2013 through July 2016, Roy worked as a West Coast reporter for ABC News, reporting for all of the network’s broadcasts and platforms. She covered a wide range of stories there, including consumer-facing products and a Delphi self-driving car.
Previously, Roy anchored the morning and evening newscasts at NBC10 in Philadelphia from May 2002 – February 2013. While at NBC, she covered education extensively in addition to filling in as an NBC News correspondent, appearing on NBC’s TODAY and Nightly News as well as MSNBC.
